In working with couples, I have found it best to take some time upfront to learn, practice and apply some important principles of communication, problem solving and conflict resolution. Also, we explore some basic attitude changes that are necessary for relationships to heal, grow, and thrive. Without this preliminary work, therapy sessions can easily dissolve into repeated patterns criticism, defensiveness and arguing. Why pay your therapist to have the same argument that you can have for free at home?
