Mental (“Bad thought”) OCD, possibly the most distressing type of OCD is Mental or “bad thought” OCD. People with this form of OCD live by certain moral standards. They might have strong religious beliefs and not be comfortable with violence or any form of sexual misconduct. However, sometime a violent, sexual or sacrilegious thought popped in their head. Rather than just brushing the thought away, they focus on it. They worry that the thought somehow reflects their “real” character. The religious form of this condition is sometimes referred to as Scrupulosity. Atlanta psychologist, Dr. Stan Hibbs, has successfully treated many people suffering from this form of OCD.
