I. Welcome to new subscribers:
I have been overwhelmed by the response to my newsletter.
In the last month alone, readership has grown 62%. I
especially want to welcome the many graduate students
struggling to finish their doctoral dissertation. In future
articles, I will make a point of meeting your needs.
II. Weight & Health: Less of you in 2002?
In November 2000, I walked into a Weight Watchers
meeting. Was I crazy to start a weight-loss program just
prior to the holidays? I did that because I wanted to put
the "Consider It Done" principles to the ultimate test.
Over the next five months I met my goal weight and I have
maintained a healthy weight since then. Weight Watchers
taught me how to make wise food decisions and provided
the accountability that I needed.
The "Consider It Done" principles did the rest. They
helped keep me motivated, resist excuses, and overcome
discouragement.
If you're thinking about losing weight, let me suggest one
very simple first step. Keep a food journal. Write down
everything you eat. Everything! Include an estimate
of the portion size. That's it! That's all that you need
to do for now. It will take about 3 minutes a day. Stay
tuned for additional steps!
III. Future newsletters: The Consider It Done Principles
In the upcoming series of newsletters, I will be outlining
the "Consider It Done" principles. These principles can
be applied to any worthwhile project such as
-->losing weight
-->building our own business
-->stopping smoking
-->completing that dissertation!
Before the next newsletter comes out in about two weeks,
be thinking about what you would like to change. Consider
using the "Consider It Done" principles to help you reach
your goals.
Can you tell that I'm enthusiastic about the principles?
I hope it shows! I'm living evidence that they work!
Talk to you again in two weeks.
