I. Holiday Excuses:
My last two newsletters have been devoted to overcoming
excuses. I have tried to highlight the all-to-human habit
of letting our Gremlin keep us from staying on track and
being all that we can be.
As wonderful as the Holidays are, they provide fertile
ground for massive excuse making. Here is just a partial
list of what gets "excused" at Holiday time:
-Overeating
-Drinking too much
-Spending too much
-Over stressing ourselves
-Getting irritable when things aren't perfect
-Greed
-Perpetuating family feuds
-Feeling sorry for ourselves
How about we choose a different list this year? Maybe we
can use the Holidays as an excuse to:
+Think about what's really important
+Contact an old friend with whom we've lost touch
+Tell our loved ones how much they mean to us
+Be grateful
+Do acts of service
+Give our families the attention they deserve
+Reconnect with God
II. Holiday Greetings:
We have already started our Christmas celebration in
my house. The four weeks before Christmas are known as
Advent and every Sunday night we light a candle which
represents Hope, Love, Joy, & Peace.
Whatever Holiday you celebrate, may it be filled with
Hope, Love, Joy, & Peace.
